Currently, I have aquired the assets of a small injection company that started in 1960 produced plastic model aircraft kits of the 1920's and '30s, and accessories for flying models- targeted at models replicating aircraft from pioneer aircraft, through WWI, and up to the 1930's. There is also a short line of *** scale model railroad autos, aircarft, and buildings. The plan is to put all existing products back into production and then expand with new products and possibly in new directions based on my hi-tech knowledge.
The current success of this company is founded in solid processes being in place and excellant customer service- including support of products previously produced by the original company, no matter how old. Providing that support has netted us world wide acceptance and international customers better than any advertising has, as word flies on the internet forums which appear to carry more impact. I've streamlined processes and improved several molds to suppoort production. We refuse to play accountant games, as managment runs this company, and we carry inventory, project production rates, and continue to build product- as inventory is key to survival in tough times in the hobby industry. We don't miss sales, and our delivery to distributors and dealers is very stable and trusted, and greatly appreciated as our customers play the JIT inventory strategy. We've been called "best supplier' by one of our major distributors claiming invnetory turn of 5.82, and we've accomplished 98% fill rate on fast turn-around orders. Our goal is 48 hour turn on orders and we've done many in the same day as of last year. Our current issues have been projecting sales number for inventory- we keep beating the numbers and need to make more products to keep up. We plan to complete the project of bringing all existing products back to production in 2010 and new product design has begun, which we expect to also see this year. It's been a lot of work, and some juggling as every dime has gone back into the company , but growth continues and we expect to hit our mark of being profitable this year. Production has seen a decrease in stress as inventory builds, and less change overs occur to meet immediate needs while longer production runs are now able to be done for plastic type and color. Employees are treated as valuable assets and managed by objective and loosely on time- which leads to happy workers with tremendous loyalty with a great desire to do good work.
