Mar 18, 2011 - The last year saw an explosion of new, do-it-yourself social and mobile marketing tools. These tools are generally affordable and easy to use for the typical small business owner. Does ease and affordability translate into exciting, consistent marketing that drives customers back to your front door? That’s not always the case. As a small business owner, you may have the will, and even the time to devote to the shiny new service, but you didn’t go into business to be a marketer.

Jan 15, 2011 - Hi Guy - Excellent fundamental article here. I think you guys covered all the bases save second base: How do you attract fans? There's a lot of Facebook data as we know that suggests the vast majority of wall posts from businesses won't show up in newsfeeds. I think Small Biz Owners don't know this. Gurus and others seem to be promoting that "if you put it up on the wall, it will go to the newsfeed." I generally believe the industry is doing a grave disservice with this type of vague-at-best
