Since the beginning of the war in Iraq, nearly 5,000 U.S. soldiers have lost their lives in battle. During that same period of time, almost 40,000 teenagers have been killed on U.S. roads.

Car crashes kill more teenagers every year than war, ***, and crime combined. But this deadly epidemic isn't well publicized or well known. In fact, most parents don't realize that letting their child get behind the wheel of a car is probably the most dangerous thing they will ever do. A teenager is 20 times more likely than their parent to get in an accident.

When our son turned 16, my wife and I were surprised and disappointed at the quality of driver training options that were available to us. Both Driver's Ed at school and private instruction through commercial driving schools were focused on getting our son to pass the state driving exam, not becoming a lifelong safe driver.

So we decided to do something about it.

Our goal at Fresh Green Light is simple ... we want to save lives. The vast majority of car accidents are avoidable. With the right training and experience, we can help teens develop the skills and attitude to drive and survive behind the wheel.
