If your current provider charges by the hour, generally they can only increase their income TWO ways:

1. Charge more per hour.

2. Bill for more hours.

The ultimate financial interests of you and an hourly service provider are opposite. Does this mean the hourly service provider is dishonest? Absolutely not - that's the way it's ALWAYS been done. We don't think it's dishonest, but we also don't think we should be rewarded with an hourly fee when your systems go down. Especially when you have entrusted us to keep your system up and running. We want our clients to be our partners in business and not just another client on a list. Partners want each other to succeed. Partnerships cannot thrive when interests are opposite. We think there is a different way...a better way.
The difference?

For a flat monthly fee we become your I.T. Department and provide your business with UNLIMITED technical support.
Our goals are the same as yours.

This arrangement aligns us with our clients to a common goal - continuous uptime. YOUR problems become OUR problems. With Flat-Fee billing, when you have a problem it costs us BOTH money. Again, we are not rewarded with an hourly fee when you have a problem. The more time you are up and running, the more profitable and productive your business is. We are your I.T. Department for a flat monthly fee, so you can focus on the heart of your business, and leave the I.T. details to us.

For accounting, I also like http://www.xero.com and http://www.workingpoint.com. In my opinion Xero is a bit more polished and "finished" than Working Point, but if you need something simple, Working Point would work well. It beats going to the "Dark Side" (Quickbooks).

    Online Bookkeeping. Is it realistic?

    ANTHONY GARMONT

The caveat for me has always been the ability to import transactions from my bank. I do not think most online services have the option (correct me PLEASE if I'm wrong) to import transactions into the system. You are stuck hand entering each and every credit card charge, from each different card.…
