Profiles usually stink - stories don't. Here's my story:
The one thing any creative person hates is seeing a good idea go to waste. As a professional marketing consultant, sometimes I would have "ideas in search of a client." Since I've never been one to upsell ideas that won't work for a specific business, I decided to start sharing these ideas freely through my personal blog - Influential Marketing.
Since starting in 2004 I have published nearly 1000 blog articles about marketing, consumer behaviour, psychology, trends, and anything else I found interesting. Along the way the blog has won several awards, been quoted in the WSJ and NY Times, listed by AdAge as one of the Top 25 marketing blogs in the world, and been read by more than 1.5 million unique users.
In 2008 I wrote my first book called Personality Not Included on how small businesses can use their personality to stand out and build their company. Next year (2012) I will publish my second book called LIKEONOMICS (http://www.likeonomics.com) all about how to be more trusted and beat your competitors despite the fact that we are all living through a modern believability crisis.
Outside of all the writing, I often do speeches at conferences around the world and try hard to focus on sharing non-obvious advice in an approachable way. I've spoken at TEDx, BlogWorld, CES and lots of other conferences signified by acronyms that you are unlikely to know off the top of your head. I also teach global marketing at Georgetown University in my home city of DC.
Most of all, I am a marketing guy who loves social media, but most of all I love reading non-boring, entertaining and useful marketing advice. That's what I try to share too. I'm always open to hearing your thoughts about anything that I write, and new stories that might be great to feature here on the Open Forum blog.
My email address is rohitaustralia@gmail.com and I DO respond personally to emails as fast as I can.
Rohit is a founding member of the 360 Digital Influence group at Ogilvy where he has led marketing strategy for clients including Intel, Pepsi, Lenovo, Seiko, Unilever, and dozens of others. He is the author of the best selling book Personality Not Included, an actually useful (gasp!) guide on creating a more human business, published in 8 different languages. He has written over 900 pieces of marketing advice on his personal blog Influential Marketing and still wishes he had more time to blog! His second book called Likeonomics will be published in early 2012. Rohit has been featured as a marketing expert in The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, NPR and other suitably impressive places. He teaches marketing at Georgetown University and is proud of his reputation as a fun and "non-obvious" keynote speaker who has presented across the world on authenticity, creativity, storytelling, business trends, social media, and why marketing is no longer like feeding a baby
