How can I create a profile?

Only Registered OPEN Forum Members can set up profiles for their business. If you’re an OPEN Cardmember, you can use your AmericanExpress.com User ID and Password to get started.

Finding Content, Businesses and People

How can I find specific videos, articles, businesses and people on OPEN Forum?

The OPEN Forum search bar is located at the top right of your screen. This search bar includes a drop-down menu to narrow your search to a specific section of the site.

Does the search bar search all of AmericanExpress.com?

This search bar only searches the OPEN Forum portion of the AmericanExpress.com website. If you want to search the entire AmericanExpress.com website, use the search bar located above OPEN Forum search bar at the very top right side of the page.

RSS Feeds

Can I sign up for RSS feeds from OPEN Forum?

Yes, you can stay up to date on what’s happening with 10 different RSS feeds:

  • The master OPEN Forum feed (all new articles, videos, events)
  • Topics Feeds (all new articles, videos, events under specified Topics)
  • The Events Feed (all new events)
  • The Articles Only Feed (all new articles with full text)

Just click the links next to the feeds below you’d like to subscribe to. You can also sign up through your browser toolbar by clicking on the RSS icon and following the subscription prompts.

Content

Why can’t I comment on articles and videos?

Only logged in OPEN Forum Members can interact on the site to do things like post comments, send messages, start discussion, etc. If you are an OPEN Cardmember, log in or register now.

How can I see all articles and videos from one author or source?

Content in the Idea Hub is arranged by Topic, not source or author. However, you can use the OPEN Forum search bar at the top right corner of your screen to find everything from a particular source or author. Additionally, every article and video page has a “You Might Also Like” feature that suggests related content you may find interesting.

Can I send an article or video to a friend?

Yes. At the bottom left of each content page, you’ll find links to share via Twitter, Facebook and other platforms.

Events

How can I register for an event?

The Event page on OPEN Forum is not an official registration site. In order to sign up and pay for an event, follow prompts on the event’s page to the official event website or click on the “Register for This Event” link, located directly below the event overview.

How can I tell other people about OPEN Forum events?

Sharing allows you to notify anyone about an upcoming event. On the event overview page, click on links below the event image to share via Facebook, Twitter, and platforms.

Where can I find recaps of events I couldn't attend?

The Past Events section enables you to experience past events through videos and member comments. All of this content can be found under the "Past Event" tabs on the Events pages, within the Idea Hub.

Can I create a new event and invite OPEN Forum Members?

Currently the calendar is limited to official OPEN events and can't accommodate additional events from Members.

Experts

Who are the Experts?

Experts are our featured authors, including Guy Kawasaki, Anita Campbell, and other top contributors. They write articles for the site as well as engage in discussion with OPEN Forum Members.

Discussion

How can I start or contribute to a discussion?

You have to be a logged in OPEN Forum Member to start or contribute to a discussion. If you’re an OPEN Cardmember, log in or register now.

If you are not a Cardmember, you can still browse discussions. Within the Idea Hub, each Topic area has a dedicated discussion tab. Choose from the list of Topics at the left to find the subject you would like to read discussions about.

Seeks and Provides

What are the Seeks and Provides?

Seeks and Provides can help OPEN Forum Members to tell the community exactly what their business does and what goods and services they’re looking for. Logged in Members can use these to find and network with other businesses with complementary needs and interests.

Contacts

How can I make contacts on OPEN Forum?

Only registered OPEN Forum Members can make direct contacts through the site. If you're an OPEN Cardmember, log in or register now.

However, anyone can contact businesses through their profiles. Each business' website and phone number are listed on their profile for contact outside of OPEN Forum.
