FedEx Global Brand Management Director Monica Skipper shares a cost-effective way to build a bigger brand for your small business.
Learn moreThe economic down turn has definitely put the kabbash on end-of-year festivities. Many companies have either drastically downsized or completely cancelled their company parties this year. You’re lucky if you received a card, or a bonus, or even one of those reviled fruitcakes. But luckily, some creative entrepreneurs have figured out a way to keep up the holiday cheer without breaking the bank.
It’s not unheard of for small businesses to band together in hard times. Some times would-be competitors can find a way to cooperate on new ventures. Creative businesses have often been known to share studio space, splitting rent for office space and encouraging a creative exchange. But, as Inc. Magazine reports, some companies are now hosting joint-venture parties.
Frankly, the idea is brilliant.
For small businesses, it can definitely be cost-prohibitive to throw a party with all the bells and whistles, but after your business has grown and surpassed a certain size, employees may need more than a bonus check and a fruitcake to make them feel appreciated.
By partnering with another complementary company, small businesses can pool resources to give their hard-working, deserving employees a proper party (replete with music, food, libation and good cheer). Since more than one company attends a joint party, this means that the cost per head goes down. And, if the businesses are complementary, it could also mean potential new business opportunity and a chance to network. At the very least, it means new people and more stories for around the water cooler.
