I love the advice. "Listen to yourself." I am in Real Estate which is essentially sales, so you get a lot of sales training, the phone calls, the always ask for referrals, the close, the talk track.... I don't like it when I know someone is "closing" me, I don't like obvious sales pitches, so I act a bit differently than most others in my industry and attract people who want to work with me. I am not chasing after all those "leads" because they are not people who have come to me. I tell my clients that I am really an educator. People make the best decisions when they have answers or understand what is really going on. You can make this business harder than it has to be and you can rejoice in the short-lived glory of capturing a lead, or, you can build friendships and trust and stop selling yourself. Just BE yourself - people appreciate that. As Popeye says, "I Yam what I Yam."
