While some companies offer bonus opportunities as a way to motivate its employees, Dan Ariely thinks bonuses causes just the opposite. The author of The Upside Of Irrationality tells Business Insider CEO Henry Blodget that bonuses create internal competition that will leave certain employees feeling under-appreciated. At the same time, money can only drive people to work harder for those making a certain level of income. People want to do meaningful work that is appreciated by those within the company.
