At Behind the Burner we're focused on creating content in food, wine, mixology and nutrition and then syndicating it to TV (NBC NY NONSTOP) and 50 online media partners (http://Bravotv.com">Bravotv.com, MySpace, etc.) Still, we have an online destination to engage people with our content. We've tried Facebook ads to grow email subscribers, Google Ad Words and http://Su.pr">Su.pr ads to drive traffic and basic viral marketing on social media and networking sites.
How have you grown email subs and driven traffic to your website? What is most cost effective for you?

On this end, site traffic increases via SEO, articles, and virtual commentary. Other than the time allotted to write articles, providing expert advice is very cost-effective. I also ran Google Ads, which provided a surge of traffic for a nominal fee; however, the conversion rate was very low. Looking to return to event promos via online Calendar of Events as that previously increased site traffic and queries. All those methods are very cost-effective.

Kumar,
Co-registration is definitely a good idea. I prefer this to renting lists to drive subscribers. I've found that one-time list rentals can be expensive and ineffective.
