A lot of different companies offer rewards points as a way of promoting business and bringing back customers. I started my Petal Rewards points program as a way of rewarding my loyal customers. My program works in a very similar way to other rewards programs: for every dollar a customer spends, he or she earns one Petal Reward point. These points can then be redeemed for discounts on floral arrangements or merchandise we sell in the shop, such as Godiva chocolate, home décor items, lamps, baby gifts, and unique toys.
Some business owners may wonder if a rewards program like this can be successful. I believe my Petal Rewards program has done very well. I know it has built up customer loyalty because we have customers call into the shop just to ask how many reward points they currently have and what it will take to get to another level. When they come into the store to spend their points, we can collect their email addresses for our mailing list, which is also a nice benefit of the program.
The Petal Rewards program is very affordable. When customers redeem their points for discounts on arrangements, they feel they are getting a great deal. However, if the discount is broken down, it comes out to costing us about five cents per every reward point. Since the customer has to spend a dollar to earn a reward point, the program is quite affordable.
We also find that the Petal Rewards program makes our customers feel valued. It shows them that I appreciate the fact that they come back time and again to Moravian Florist. In fact, it’s the very reason some have become repeat customers. I market the program to my email list and make certain my employees mention it to every customer who makes a purchase in the store. It is also extensively mentioned on our website and the point value for each product is clearly displayed. The customer also has the option of tracking their points online.
As you can see, implementing your own rewards program can be a great way of bringing back customers. It doesn’t necessarily have to cost a lot, and the return on your investment may make the program well worth the effort. I know my Petal Rewards program has certainly brought me a good amount of repeat business over the years.
