Invest in the social network platform that reaches your target audience as well as prospective sponsors and partners. LinkedIn is definitely a favorite given its direct access to a myriad of business professionals across industries.

I think that if used correctly, Facebook is a powerful tool for brand awareness, networking and has the best platform for targeted ads.

The OPEN Forum here has good potential, as we're all members of the same "club." It's more exclusive than any other social network, and we all have something in common so there's a natural trust built in. It's still early, though. We have gotten leads through LinkedIn and we have a Facebook fan page to create client involvement.

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn. They are all great. But before you decided on which to use, you need to figure out your buyer persona and where are they hanging out. Then go after them in those social networks. Most likely (with 300+ millions users), Facebook is a platform you want to be in. But don't overlook Twitter either. Great for following trends and conversations. It's all about relevancy.

It is impossible to have a "favorite" because they are all different. The more well prepared your marketing plan is, the better you are able to target specific types of outreach to the people at specific places in different social media outelts. For example, my "favorite" one is Twitter when it comes to my weekly radio show because I use Twitter to host a live chat during the show. But my favorite is FaceBook when it comes to sharing videos and photos with my clients and other stakeholders. This is because it's easy and fun for them to comment and discuss photos at FaceBook than it is on Twitter. So I think one has to, as the above commenter says, know who you are trying to reach first. Then once you find out where they are, you have to find out why they're there. What do they expect? This is key because if you march onto FaceBook thinking that the same 140-character Tweet you just posted will be well received, you are likely to run into some problems. This is a great question and I'm
