View videosMore small retailers believe the economy will improve rather than stay the same or worsen over the next 12 to 18 months, according to the American Express OPEN Retail Economic Pulse, a recent survey of retailers with fewer than 100 employees.
Retailers with 20 to 49 employees were the most optimistic, with 51 percent of those surveyed saying that they believed the economy would improve over this time frame. At the same time, more than one in five (22 percent) of the smallest retailers—those with fewer than 10 employees—believe the economy will actually worsen over the next year and a half.
The survey also found that retailers with $100,000 or more in revenues are slightly more optimistic about an economic recovery than their smaller counterparts.

It is always good news to hear that small businesses are optimistic about the state of the economy. I think its interesting to see there are still a number of small businesses who think that the economy will get worse. One thing we are looking out for here at Dydacomp is the effect rising gas prices will have on small businesses and how consumers react to these changes. Businesses soon will have to either accept that everything from raw materials to finished goods will cost more, and therefore businesses will have to start charging more. Here at Dydacomp a number of our clients have seen a healthy eCommerce growth over the past couple of months. Lets hope this growth continues throughout the year. Thanks for this article!Molly Dydacomphttp://www.dydacomp.com
