Learn moreI’m not one of your overzealous Mac guys. I own plenty of them (in fact, I’m not going to say how many), but I consider them just solid machines that let me connect to the internet easily, where I think I do all my computing. Note that I say “think.”
I just bought the new Macbook Air (the 13” one, not the tiny 11” one), and realized that I had to load a handful of applications on it. Here’s what I added:
As thin as that list is, you might wonder how I do all my work. I’ve moved a lot of my application use to the clouds. Let’s look at that.
Web Applications I Use:
As with all things, your mileage may vary, depending on what kinds of work you do, but I’m finding that It’s amazing how many web applications have replaced my computer-side needs, and yet, I’m surprised by how many apps still have to stay on my desktop to be useful to me.
Which apps do you use daily? What did I miss? Drop some comments and let me know what you think.

Really useful list. I'm going to give Dropbox a try. Love Hootsuite, good iphone app and good for managing multiple accounts, preposting, etc. I would add lately I'm having a total love affair with Freshbooks - for billing, time tracking it's great. And I love SnagIt for screen captures (which just came out with a mac version today).Question - did you switch from a PC to mac? I'm about to do it and think that's why dropbox might be a great idea. but what about docs in Word, can they easily transfer via dropbox between Mac and PC?
What about hoot suite do you like over all the others?
OmniFocus - iPhone, Mac, and iPad - an excellent application for getting things done. Cloud sync, refined interface, and very intuitive on each device.
SO I must what about an iPad? Do you use one? What apps do you like while you are on the go! The majority of Apps you mentioned have their own IOS counterparts to help you while traveling.Chriswww.ifficiency.com

Hey Chris, this probably won't surprise you, but I have almost identical needs with only the following app choice variations.Desktop:Favourite utility hands down ever: PTHPasteboard. Let's you preserve as many things as you like through copying and cutting.I use Omnigraffle for mind mapping (and more) because it automagically makes outlines into editable mind-maps.Little Snapper for screen grabs.Cloud:Mindmeister because it's accessible from anywhere and collaboration oriented. We run our books off Freshbooks. Been with them almost since they started, tried to leave for a more 'enterprise' solution, came back after confirming everything else sucks.Been on Basecamp for project management since 2004 and haven't looked back. I use Highrise for contacts instead of Batchbook. Diigo for Social bookmarking and WAY more. It's like Delicious, but it also lets me highlight pages, leave notes, share them with team members, lists, or just by email. Hope things are well,B
