Accounting software for Mac?

Since Quickbooks for Mac is a *very* different version than Quickbooks for PC, and the two are neither compatible nor are they comparable in features, I wonder if anyone who is in professions where you bill for services has tried any other alternatives. I am researching new software for 2010.

Basic needs are general bookkeeping system for small operation that tracks time, invoices, and tracks bank/cc statements along with standard general ledger operations.

Any thoughts would be great. Again, this is for Mac not PC.

Have you explored any web-based solutions?

    Hi David,

I researched this about a year ago, and after trying several different demos, I ended up with (sigh) Quickbooks. I agree that Intuit hasn't fully supported the Mac, but the other programs didn't have the features I needed.

Have you tried TinyBooks for Mac? I haven't used it myself, but I believe you can try it for free. Here is a link that may help:

Thanks for the responses. I'm down to trying a few different applications. I thought about web-based but after looking at the costs that are charged (monthly fees), they seem to be quite pricey after about a year, and the prospect of being tied to that program/fee for the long haul makes it even worse.

I'm down to testing a few different programs, Quickbooks/mac, Quickbooks/windows (using Boot Camp), Studiometry/Accounted, AccountEdge, and Freshbooks, Billings. I'll try to report back on my findings and final choice.

What do you think?
