Social media offers new and exciting ways for businesses especially to enhance their brands. Not only does it offer visibility, but as FedEx realized, the depth of engagement with customers is genuine and deeper.
It's so interesting to learn about the ways a large company like FedEx leverages social media in its favor. While the goals of developing business in social media are the same for small and large businesses, the methods seem to vary pretty substantially. Speaking very generally, a company like FedEx has the advantage of a recognizable brand and is able to focus on customer satisfaction. A smaller, lesser-known company, though, might be better served by social media in a customer acquisition context.
